Toronto Star features campaign to rebuild Japanese tea house

Star Vancouver featured a campaign led by UVic's Landscapes of Injustice to rebuild a destroyed Japanese tea house in Esquimalt. Kaitlin Findlay, research co-ordinator with Landscapes of Injustice, is quoted in the article. "'Neighbours were coming and endlessly destroying the buildings, destroying the plants, and the garden, this place that had once been part of community life,' Findlay said. The proposal for building the memorial tea house “offers a rare opportunity to look at ourselves as neighbours and what our role is” in such destruction, Findlay said." Read the full story in the Star Vancouver. The proposal to rebuild the teahouse, which is being considered by the Township of Esquimalt, received further coverage on CTV Vancouver Island, CBC Victoria, including CBC Radio's "On the Island" program.
