Canadian law professors are continuing to put pressure on the government to immediately halt enforcement of the Canada-US Safe Third Country Agreement after a damning report from the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic was issued yesterday. The report concluded that following President Trump’s Executive Orders, it is no longer safe for refugees to seek asylum in the US.

In light of the Harvard report and their letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the following University of Victoria expert is available to media to discuss the renewed call:

Donald Galloway (Law) was involved in the initial letter to the federal Minister of Immigration, signed by 240 Canadian law professors urging the government to suspend the agreement, which was read Jan. 31 in an emergency parliamentary meeting. Professor Galloway is a legal scholar in the area of refugee and immigration law, a former member of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, and former co-chair of the Legal Research Committee of the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers.
