Microsoft Office Problem and Repair
A bug in an update for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint may have caused Microsoft Office to be removed from your computer. You may be missing shortcuts to Office applications like Word, PowerPoint, or Excel and you may be unable to open Office documents.
If your computer is managed by University Systems, we are deploying a fix for this issue. This fix will be applied throughout the day on January 13, 2023. You do not need to take any steps to resolve this problem.
If your computer is not managed by University Systems, please review the following options to repair Microsoft Office:
Automatic Repair of Microsoft Office
Try this method to repair Microsoft Office first: Repair an Office Application. These instructions will walk you through the process to use Microsoft’s automatic repair tools to restore Microsoft Office.
Re-install Microsoft Office
If you are unable to repair Microsoft Office using the automatic repair utility, you can use the following resources to re-install Microsoft Office:
- Install Microsoft Office 365 from Microsoft 365
- Download Office 2016 from the University Systems website
