CourseSpaces assignment submission + grading problems

Effective 6 days ago: CourseSpaces is in some cases preventing students from submitting assignments, and/or preventing instructors from viewing / grading assignment submissions. We are working on the issue.

Effective 21 hours ago: *UPDATE* This change is now complete

Network Services will be upgrading switches in the basement of the Student Union Building on Wed. Jan. 28. There will be a small disruption in service for some users in this area as the switches are upgraded.

Work is scheduled to begin at 7:00am and will be completed by 8:00am.

Tape Storage maintenance affecting Workstation and Administrative Server backup services.

Effective 15 hours ago: Maintenance on the tape library on Jan 28 1:00pm until 2:00pm will result in no access to data stored on tapes.

Workstation restores will not be possible during this time.

Workstation and Server archive retrieval will not be possible during this time.

As of ~4am our edge security service (PaloAlto) is no longer blocking resources the video player required.

Video On Demand videos (UVic's service at vod.uvic.ca) embedded on a web page are currently unavailable from on-campus connections since being blocked at the campus edge this morning.

We are working on the issue.

Removal of uhire names from DNS - POSTPONED

Network Services will be removing the uhire family of names from DNS and turning off their service instances on January 28, 2015 at 7:00am.

Fine Arts File Server Maintenance: Sunday @ 8am.

Effective 3 days from now: Hello,

On Sunday, Feburary 1st at 8am (0800) the Fine Arts File Server will be shutdown to perform Storage System maintenance.

This outage should take at most 2 hours.

During this time the file services and web pages on the following hosts will not be available.

files.finearts.uvic.ca
people.finearts.uvic.ca

Please advise if there is an issue with this timing.

After the service interval if there are issues please advise us at fineadmn@uvic.ca.

DNS1/2 migrated to new servers

Effective 20 hours ago: Due to a potential security vulnerability in the version of Linux hosting the primary DNS servers, DNS2 and DNS1 were moved onto new virtual servers last night.
