What will your residence experience be?
- Would you prefer a room on your own, a double room with a roommate, an apartment or townhouse with three roommates, or an apartment of your own?
- Do you want to cook your own meals or let UVic’s Food Services take care of that?
- Do you want to enhance your residence experience with one of our living learning communities?
No matter what residence type you choose, you’ll be part of a supportive environment that will help you achieve your goals as a UVic student.
UVic has 21 dormitory buildings with a mixture of single and double rooms. If you live in a single room, you'll have the room to yourself. In a double room, you'll share it with a roommate. There are common lounges in all our buildings with television, cable service and microwave. Each building has centrally located washrooms (a mix of community and/or shared single washrooms) on each floor.
All rooms in the dormitories have twin extra-long beds with a mattress size of 78" × 39" × 8". Residence Services provides a mattress cover for each bed. Students need to bring their own extra-long sheets, blankets, pillow and a pillow slip. Learn more about what to bring.
- All rooms are furnished with a desk, reading lamp, desk chair and a closet or wardrobe with drawers.
- Cable hookups are available in your room, however you need to arrange and pay for cable service in addition to providing your own television.
- Wireless Internet is available across campus including your room in residence. Internet ports are also located in each room but students will need to provide their own Ethernet cable.
Our Cluster neighbourhood is comprised of 121 apartment and townhouse units. These self-contained units include four bedrooms, a kitchen, a semi-furnished living room, two washrooms and one shower room.
There are four single bedrooms within each Cluster unit. In Cluster apartment units all four bedrooms are on one floor. In the Cluster townhouse units, there are two bedrooms upstairs and two bedrooms downstairs.
Each kitchen has two fridges, a stove, a dishwasher and dining room table with four chairs. Cable hookups are available in your room, but you need to arrange and pay for cable service and provide your own television. Wireless Internet is available across campus including your room in residence. Internet ports are also located in each room but students will need to provide their own Ethernet cable.
All rooms are fully furnished with a desk, reading lamp, desk chair and a closet and dresser. Students are responsible for their own microwave, dishes, cutlery, utensils and bed linens. Learn more about what to bring.
Students living in Cluster housing are not required to purchase a meal plan.
During the winter session, graduate students are given priority for apartments.
Throughout our dormitory buildings, we offer 46 self-contained, furnished bachelor and one-bedroom apartments. A bachelor apartment combines living, sleeping, and cooking areas in a single room. Our one-bedroom apartments include living and cooking areas with a separate bedroom.
UVic's accessible residences have automatic door entrances with access from ground level and/or a ramp. Bedroom amenities such as levers, peepholes and mirrors have been lowered and, in the case of apartments, countertops in the kitchen have been adjusted to accommodate a wheelchair, if required. Washrooms with roll-in showers are available as are bedrooms with a strobe light for people who are hard of hearing. Learn more about what to bring.
If you require an accessible residence room, please follow our procedure for priority consideration in residence, and be sure to select this option when you apply to residence. If you have any questions about this process, email email@example.com.
