Four CAPI interns win Jamie Cassels Undergraduate Research Awards!

Four students who are currently participating in CAPI’s International Internship Program are among the winners of the 2015-2016 Jamie Cassels Undergraduate Research Award (JCURA). CAPI Interns work with civil society organizations throughout Asia that work on community development and migrants’ rights issues.

Jordan Konyk (Political Science, abstract) is working as a program assistant with the Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Yasmine El-Hamamsy (Political Science, abstract) is working with the Malaysian Social Research Institute in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Nicola Craig Hora (Pacific and Asian Studies, abstract) and Kylie Pettifer (Geography, abstract) have worked with CITYNET in Yokohama, Japan.

These $1,500 research awards are designed to provide support for exceptional undergraduate students who might otherwise not be able to have direct research experience. Award recipients undertake a research investigation in dialogue with—and under the mentorship of—a faculty supervisor, and present their results at a Research Fair in the Spring.
