Call for Scarborough Charter Steering Committee Members at UVic
We are seeking volunteers to serve on UVic’s Scarborough Charter Steering Committee. This is an opportunity to contribute your expertise to advance Black inclusion and flourishing initiatives on campus.
We welcome applicants with a range of experiences and perspectives whose lenses will strengthen the Committee’s work. We encourage UVic and community members with lived experiences of being racialized as Black to apply.

We are hoping to fill the following committee vacancies:
- Undergraduate student member
- Graduate student member
- Faculty member
- Community member
- Flexible member (post-doc, visiting scholar or sessional instructor)
- Attend and participate in monthly committee meetings
- Review materials, contribute to discussions and support decision-making
- Collaborate with fellow committee members to advance committee initiatives
- Commit approximately 3.5-4.5 hours per month to attend monthly meetings and complete committee work outside of the meetings
Committee service will begin in Fall 2026. Students will receive honoraria and letters of recognition documenting their contributions.
