The following University of Victoria expert is available to media to discuss the introduction of a bill by the federal government to implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP): 

John Borrows (Law) is the Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Law and co-founder of the world’s first Indigenous law degree program at UVic. He can discuss the recently passed BC legislation implementing UNDRIP and the relationship between the federal and provincial pieces of legislation, the significance of creating a plan to implement UNDRIP, and UNDRIP as an instrument of economic sustainability and reconciliation.
