Political Columnist Chantal Hébert At UVic

Award-winning journalist Chantal Hébert will give a special presentation at the University of Victoria on Nov. 20. This event is part of Canada’s Public Policy Forum 25th Anniversary Lecture Series.

Chantal Hébert is a national affairs writer with the Toronto Star and a guest columnist for Le Devoir and L’Actualité. She is a weekly participant on the political panel At Issue on CBC’s The National as well as Radio-Canada’s Les coulisses du pouvoir.

Hébert began her career in Toronto as a reporter for the regional newsroom of Radio-Canada in 1975 before moving on to Parliament Hill for Radio-Canada. She has reported in English and in French on Canada’s constitutional and referendum wars, the 1988 free-trade debate as well as the more recent rebirth of the Conservative movement. She is the author of the 2007 book French Kiss: Stephen Harper’s Blind Date with Quebec. In 2006, Hébert received the Hy Solomon award for excellence in journalism and public policy. She was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2012.
