The United States has enacted 25-per-cent tariffs on Canadian goods, and this week the Canadian government announced a “robust tariff package” in response. The University of Victoria experts are available to media for comment about the tariffs or their impacts.

History lesson: Identifying a climate ‘tipping point’ for ocean deoxygenation

September 4, 2024 - Media release

Massive volcanic carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions contributing to an extreme global ocean deoxygenation event over 120 million years ago has modern day implications for understanding a climate warming “tipping point,” according to new research published in Nature this week, led by a scientist at Ocean Networks Canada, a UVic initiative.

May 5 is Red Dress Day, the national day of awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit people. Each year on this day, we wear red to honour our mothers, daughters, sisters, cousins, aunts, siblings and diversely gendered relatives and acknowledge the families and communities that have been impacted by the on-going crisis of MMIWG2S+.
