Dr. Brent Mainprize, a professor at the Gustavson School of Business, came up a winner twice in the past month. Most recently, Mainprize garnered a 2014 Desire2Learn Innovation Award in Teaching and Learning from The Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) and Desire2Learn. Mainprize is one of only five winners nationally.
UVic and the Gustavson School of Business were big winners at the recent BC regional Startup Canada awards. UVic was given the award as the Most Entrepreneurial Post-Secondary Institution of the Year. This prize is “Awarded to the college or university that demonstrates the largest commitment and impact in advancing entrepreneurship.”
Whether they’re helping us understand the complexities of politics and public policy, laying the mathematical groundwork for everyday devices and processes, giving us a greater appreciation for musical expression, or helping Indigenous communities revive their endangered languages—this year’s Craigdarroch Research Award recipients are making our world a better place.

The 2014 Victoria Leadership Awards took place Feb. 26 in Victoria. Helene Cazes and Donna Greschner received the two UVic awards.
