UVic launches Student Mental Health Strategy

Members of the media are invited to the launch of the University of Victoria’s new Student Mental Health Strategy featuring a keynote presentation by a dynamic national youth advocate for mental health.

The UVic strategy is notable among post-secondary institutions for going beyond the traditional counseling and health services, and providing practical tools, resources and training to identify students at risk and respond with appropriate actions and support. Mental health issues often first present at the age when young people are also facing the challenges and stress of university life.

The featured keynote speaker is Mark Henick, the youngest-ever board member for the Mental Health Commission of Canada, national youth advocate for mental health & empowerment, renowned TEDx speaker and author. UVic President Jamie Cassels will also offer remarks.
