Growing up, Liam Sprangers spent long hours building tree houses out of scrap lumber, erecting makeshift bike ramps and designing bridges to span nearby creeks. Sprangers says he was drawn to study civil engineering by the prospect of being able to work in the construction industry.
After the consumerism of Black Friday, Giving Tuesday has become globally recognized as a day to focus on giving back. UVic’s Giving Tuesday initiative brings together community members, alumni, faculty, staff and students to donate to their chosen causes, raising money for a variety of programs and projects across the university. Staging Equality is a three-year collaborative and creative research project based in the Department of Theatre that offers a vision of how theatre can address issues of race, diversity and inclusion by building relationships based on trust and respect.
