Dr. Yang Shi has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)—the highest elected grade of the society’s membership, awarded to members who have attained excellence in mechanical engineering and who have contributed actively to the progress of their profession and to society.

The elements of mutual respect between his family and island inhabitants—learning about local culture and customs in real-world settings—stayed with Clements as a lifelong lesson.
MacGillivray spent his childhood in Kamloops, playing hockey and discussing the finer points of science with his parents. Inspired by his experiences and conversations his father, who works as a science teacher, MacGillivray started at UVic as an undergraduate biology student, with the idea of being a wildlife veterinarian.
