New arts agreement with Italy’s Morra Foundation

As a celebration of global contemporary art, the opening of the Venice Biennale in May 2019 provided the ideal backdrop for the formal signing of a three-year research agreement between UVic’s Faculty of Fine Arts and La Fondazione Morra, a major art centre in Naples. The first formal agreement between the faculty and an Italian cultural institution, it also paves the way for further engagement, collaboration and exchange between institutions.

Short-term investment policies to get update

September 17, 2019 - The Ring

In its continuing commitment to promote a sustainable future, the university is updating two policies related to its investments and is inviting feedback from interested faculty, staff and students. Goals of the review include continuing to achieve UVic’s investment objectives, updating responsible investment practices and aligning each of the policies within the university’s Strategic Framework. Consultations will continue through October.

Statement from the President

September 16, 2019 -

As you return to campus this morning, I know many of you share my sense of sorrow following the devastating accident Friday night in which two UVic students were killed and several others were injured. The loss of members of our campus community in any circumstances is distressing. These bright young people were united in their desire to experience the research and learning possibilities on Vancouver Island’s west coast. My heartfelt condolences go out to them and their loved ones.
