Credentials
PhD Anthropology (UVic), MSc Archaeology (UCL), BAH Classics and English (Queen's)
Marla holds a PhD in anthropology, a MSc in archaeology, and a BAH with a major in classics and a minor in English. Before joining the HCMC, she held a postdoctoral fellowship in UVic’s Department of Anthropology. The use of digital technologies to study the past has been a common thread throughout her research – from an undergraduate thesis that used digital photogrammetry to study rock art, to a PhD that used 3D digital modelling techniques to study skeletal growth and development in past populations, these digital tools and techniques have allowed her to learn about the lifeways of past peoples through innovative means. As the administrative assistant, Marla supports the HCMC and the digital projects that partner with the centre and enjoys staying abreast of new developments in digital humanities through this work.
