If applicable, your degree parchment will display “(Honours)”, “With Distinction” and/or “Co-operative Education”.

Your degree parchment will not display your major, minor, concentration, specialization, emphasis, specialization or option. These program details are displayed on your transcript and other graduation documentation.

"With Distinction" will appear on your degree parchment and transcript if your graduating GPA is in the top 20% of your academic unit. If you achieve “With Distinction”, a notation will be added to your transcript on the graduation date. The “With Distinction” designation is not available in the Faculties of Law or Graduate Studies, or the Division of Continuing Studies.


Receiving your degree parchment (diploma)

A degree parchment (diploma) is produced for each student after the graduation date. You may obtain your degree parchment (diploma) by:

Attending Convocation

Convocation information will be emailed to you in late March (spring graduation) or late September (fall graduation). You must complete the online convocation registration to indicate that you will be attending the ceremony.

Pick-up

Convocation information will be emailed to you approximately 6 weeks before the ceremonies. Complete the online convocation registration and select the degree pick-up option. Degree pick-up begins approximately one week after the convocation ceremonies, at Graduation Services (main floor University Centre). Photo ID is required.

Mail-out

Convocation information will be emailed to you approximately 6 weeks before the ceremonies. Complete the online convocation registration and select the degree mail-out option.

Proxy pick-up

The degree parchments (diplomas) will be available for pick-up approximately 1 week after Convocation. If you want to have another person pick up your degree parchment (diploma), send an email to degrees@uvic.ca and provide your name, student number and the full name of the individual you have assigned as proxy for pick-up.

If you did not complete the online convocation registration and Convocation has passed, you may request your degree parchment (diploma).

If you have outstanding fees, your degree parchment (diploma) will be withheld until you have cleared your account. You are advised to check your fee account on MyPage to avoid any surprise and disappointment. Contact  to request your degree parchment (diploma) once your fees have been paid.
