Times Colonist special feature Gulf Island field school

June 23, 2014 - A special feature in Sunday's Times Colonist reveals the work being done by Eric McLay and UVic students as well as First Nations cultural advisors, for a six-week field school on one of the gulf islands—as the first excavation of its kind in a national park. Students are pictured digging in grid-mapped sections of earth, sifting through shell fragments and soil to solve thousands of years of historical mysteries. TC
