President’s statement on National Day of Observance for COVID-19

- University of Victoria

Dear UVic community,

Over the past year more than 22,000 people have died due to COVID-19 across Canada. On the first National Day of Observance for COVID-19, I offer our thoughts and condolences to those who have lost loved ones to this pandemic.

Today, I encourage all of us to take a moment to pause and honour the memories of those we have lost and reach out to those who have experienced or been affected by personal loss or are struggling with the impact of the pandemic.

I am proud of the UVic community for our resilience during this challenging time. Please continue to show your support to those who have been working so hard to keep us all safe, including our frontline health care workers, and let’s continue to be there for one another.

If you are struggling, please reach out to UVic student and employee counselling services any time for assistance and support.

Sincerely,

Kevin
