UVic makes the grade in new global ranking

The University of Victoria has scored an “A” across all research areas in the global U-Multirank study, released Nov. 5, which provides quality metrics on a range of attributes important to prospective students and those interested in universities.

UVic is one of only 28 Canadian universities featured in the 2015 study and is one of only seven to receive “A” grades (the highest scores) on the quality of research as measured by citation rates and research publications. In terms of international outlook, UVic is also one of only four universities to get an “A” in international joint publications.

The list of seven Canadian universities with an “A” grade, according to U-Multirank:

  • UVic
  • UBC
  • University of Calgary
  • McGill University
  • McMaster University
  • University of Ottawa
  • University of Toronto

U-Multirank is an independent approach to international ranking of higher education institutions. It was first initiated in 2014 with seed funding from the European Union. It includes profiles of hundreds of universities, with details on the type of institution and what each is best at.
