Expert on Bullying Awareness Week

The following University of Victoria faculty member is available to discuss the importance of Bullying Awareness Week.

Bonnie Leadbeater (Dept. of Psychology) is the lead evaluator for the "WITS” programs developed through a community-university partnership to prevent peer victimization and bullying. She can discuss the new French version called “DIRE” being used by school districts across Canada, as well as the Prevent Bullying Youth Leadership contest launched this month. The contest is offering $500 in funding to youth who develop projects that aim to prevent bullying.
Leadbeater is also an expert in mental health of children and adolescents and the role of peer victimization in the development of depression and problem behaviors. Bullying Awareness Week in BC is Nov. 17 to 23 this year. (Cell: 250-896-0622 or
