UVic Rolls Out The Welcome Mat
The University of Victoria officially launches a new service this week at the grand opening of the UVic Welcome Centre on Friday, February 10. The Centre is a “one-stop-shop” of information for prospective and current students, staff, faculty and visitors to campus. It serves as a first point of contact for anyone seeking information, referrals or way-finding assistance at the university.
“Since we opened in early January, we’ve assisted over 2,000 people with correct and up-to-date information, directions and general questions, all in one referral,” says centre manager Bruno Rocca.
The new centre is also home to the UVic campus tours program, which offers daily tours and presentations for prospective students and their families, school groups, dignitaries and community groups. Over 5,000 people toured the campus last year alone.
The centre will host an open house Wednesday, February 22 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., which is free and open to the public. The Welcome Centre’s regular hours of operation are Monday to Friday (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) and Saturdays (11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.).
