Wheely Big Ride To Assist Easter Seals Camps

UVic psychology student Sam Wade likes long bike rides. Last summer he joined three friends on an 8,000-km journey across Canada to raise funds for prostate cancer research. On April 30, he and friend Brian Tong will hop on their bikes and cycle from Vancouver to the Mexican border to raise funds for BC Easter Seals and its summer camps for children with disabilities.
As part of “Easter Seals on Wheels,” Wade and Tong hope to raise $8,000 for the organization which operates a long-standing camp at Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island.
“I was really inspired by the kids I met when I worked at an Easter Seal camp in Squamish,” says Wade. “I consider this upcoming trip down the west coast of North America to be the trip of a lifetime.”
Wade and Tong will depart on their trip from Easter Seal House, 3981 Oak Street in Vancouver at 11 a.m. on April 30. To learn more about the upcoming trip, to make a donation or to watch the “Easter Seals on Wheels” lip dub visit www.eastersealscamps.ca/easter-seals-wheels
