UVic's Ring Road Reopens Today

UVIC’S RING ROAD REOPENS TODAY: Ring Road at the University of Victoria will reopen to regular traffic by 5 p.m. Friday, August 31. The road was closed to vehicles during July and August in order to redirect the sewer line from the Oak Bay system to the Saanich system. The project was completed on time and on budget.
Beginning Saturday, September 1, campus parking lots 1, A, B and C will also reopen, and buses to UVic will resume their regular routes. Crews are working hard to ensure campus pedestrian paths affected by detours will reopen the week of September 4.
“We would like to thank the on- and off-campus communities for their patience during this significant project,” says Eugene Heeger, director of capital projects, Facilities Management. “We are pleased to be able to return to business as usual on Ring Road before the start of the fall term.”
Four new campus buildings, scheduled to open in 2008, are currently under construction at the university. The new facilities will meet the needs of increasing student enrolment, and provide essential research, learning and office space.
A map and more information about campus construction activities are available on the UVic website at www.uvic.ca/construction or contact UVic Facilities Management at 250-721-7616.
