Sybil Seitzinger to be honoured as AGU Fellow

Sybil Seitzinger, executive director of the UVic-led Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions, will be among the 62 scientists honoured as fellows at the American Geophysical Union’s meeting this December in California.

Each year, the AGU elects approximately one-tenth of one percent of its membership as fellows in recognition of their outstanding contributions to Earth and space science.

Before tackling climate change solutions, Seitzinger was an international leader in nitrogen biogeochemistry and global watershed modelling, in particular leading international teams that demonstrated the impact of human activities on downstream coastal ecosystems.

“AGU Fellows have advanced knowledge from microbial processes on Earth to planetary science, and it is humbling to be part of that community,” she says.
