UVic United Way Garage Goodies In Time For Holiday

Next Friday, the University of Victoria Commerce Students’ Society (CSS) will host a garage sale on campus in support of the UVic 2009 United Way campaign. If you have any hidden treasures in your garage or dorm in need of an early holiday clean-up, the CSS will accept items ranging from clothes and sporting goods to electronics and DVDs. Bring donations to the CSS office (room 113) on the lower level of UVic’s Business and Economics Building up until Thursday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. For larger pieces or items worth more than $80 that could be sold by special consignment, please first contact CSS co-directors of charity Mikaila Almond at malmond@uvic.ca or Kimberley Stephenson at kimellis@uvic.ca.
Everyone is invited to next week’s Dec. 4 garage sale from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Michèle Pujol room at UVic’s Student Union Building. The sale will feature inexpensively priced ‘recycled’ garage sale goodies, but also new items thanks to retail donations by local Victoria stores. For those who wish to eat before they browse, the 2010 UVic JDC West team will be holding a bake sale and cake walk on the same site. The CSS will donate all money raised to the United Way.
The CSS is an independent, student-run organization dedicated to creating unique opportunities for its members as well as the local business community. The 2010 JDC West Business Competition is the largest academic case competition in Western Canada, and the 2010 UVic JDC West team will be taking part in the Jan. 15-17 competition.
