UVic Seeks Public Input on University's Future
UVic is holding three town hall meetings throughout the capital region in March to seek public input on the university's plans and priorities for the future. The meetings will be held in downtown Victoria, the Saanich Peninsula and the Western Communities.
UVic's planning and priorities committee has issued a discussion paper outlining key priorities for the University. The paper also lists the strengths that differentiate UVic from other universities in Canada. The committee is consulting widely on campus and would like public input.
"Rapid changes in the world provide UVic with many challenges and some remarkable opportunities. We need to recruit and retain outstanding faculty and excellent students. We need to ensure that the only barrier to participation in the UVic experience is academic and creative potential. Integral to our success in these areas are UVic's important links to the community," says Dr. David Turpin, President of UVic. "That's why we are going out into the community to ask Greater Victoria residents to provide their thoughts about the future of UVic."
