UVic honours Orange Shirt Day on Sept. 30, 2019

For the third year, UVic will hold an Orange Shirt Day observation in the quad. Orange Shirt Day brings together Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in the spirit of reconciliation to honour Indian residential school survivors and their families.

The President's Beyond Borders Fund, established in 2015 for supporting UVic students overseas in the Asia Pacific region, will now continue for another two academic years (2019/20 and 2020/21) including support for internships, field schools and co-op placements in the region.

Two exceptional BC high-school scholars have received prestigious national scholarship awards to begin post-secondary studies at the University of Victoria this September. Across Canada, 1,500 students were nominated for the Schulich Leader Scholarship and 50 received this celebrated award.

John Money, Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Victoria, died on 26 July 2019 at the age of 80. John was “a historian’s historian” in all the best senses of that overused phrase.
