The university’s inaugural Strategic Enrolment Management (SEM) Plan was unanimously approved by Executive Council and brought to Senate and Board of Governors for information in March 2019.

Expert on Trinity Supreme Court ruling

Kathryn Chan (Faculty of Law) is available to media to discuss the June 15 Supreme Court of Canada’s ruling on whether law societies have the right to deny accreditation to the proposed law school at Trinity Western University. She can comment on what implications the TWU decision might have for religious institutions, LGBTQI+ persons and legal education in Canada.

University Club begins its next half-century

The University Club is the kind of place where "everybody knows your name." The club celebrated a double anniversary in 2017—50 years since its establishment as a social club for UVic employees, and 35 years since moving to its current location on the west side of campus.

Flag lowered in honour of Ian Stewart

The university flag will be lowered on June 22 in memory of former Chair of the Board of Governors, Dr. Ian Stewart. A Celebration of Life will be held at the University Club on July 31.

The university flag will be lowered on Friday, April 28 to mark the Day of Mourning for Persons Killed or Injured in the Workplace (Workers' Mourning Day).

The UVic Senate has approved a recommendation that students with developmental disabilities enrolled in UVic courses through a partnership with the BC Initiative for Inclusive Post-secondary Education (STEPS Forward) be recognized at the university's convocation ceremonies, starting this June.

The UVic flag will be lowered on Feb. 25 in honour of Brian Lamb, former Chair of the Board of Governors, who passed away on Jan. 27.

University flag to be lowered

The university flag will be lowered on Thursday, Jan. 26 in honour of UVic employee Greig Cosier, who passed away Jan. 7, 2017. Greig worked in Facilities Management as a custodian for more than 22 years, and volunteered his personal time to UVic events at every opportunity.

Partnership with Soochow University

Two weeks after launching its new International Plan, UVic strengthened its relationship with Soochow University with the signing of a third partnership agreement, to welcome 100 students every year from the university located in Victoria's Twin City Suzhou to study economics at UVic.

The university flag will be lowered on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016 in memory of Dr. Subhasis Nandi. Nandi was a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He passed away on Jan. 5, 2016.

After several months of hard work by both negotiating teams, the university and the Faculty Association have their first collective agreement since the association certified as a union.

Flag lowering for Erma Richardson

The Ring

The university flag will be lowered on Thursday, May 14, 2015 in honour of Erma Richardson who passed away last September at age 95. Erma worked at UVic from 1966 to 1984. After retiring from the Registrar’s office, Erma volunteered for several years at the Learning Disabilities Association. A private memorial for family will be held on campus on Thursday.
