Today, the Washington Post featured an interview with Rachel Cleves (History) on the subjects of her novel Charity and Sylvia: A Same-Sex Marriage in Early America, about a 19th-century same-sex couple of 44 years. Cleves is also the author of a new study chronicling 500 years of same-sex unions in the US, which contradicts arguments that such pairings have only arisen in recent years. Washington Post
