Deadlines for scholarship and grant applications are coming fast!

UVic students and faculty are invited to apply for the following scholarships and grants. Deadlines are approaching quickly! 

Faculty Grants 

Faculty Research Grants 

The CAPI Faculty Research Grants offers faculty a source of funding ($5,000 maximum) for research activities focused on the Asia-Pacific region. Grants are awarded to support work in the following areas: 

  • Research leading to the development of university courses 
  • Research that leads to the development of larger grant applications 
  • Research that results in scholarly publications 

Deadline: March 31, 2015 

Anand Scholarship 

The Anand-UVic Fund provides scholarships for Thai students registered at UVic and funding for faculty undertaking research in Thailand. The Fund was established in 1996 in honour of H.E. Anand Panyarachun, LL.D. (UVic. 1993), one of Thailand’s most respected public figures and UVic’s Honorary Patron in Thailand. All donations to the Fund have been made by Thai business leaders and companies in honour of Khun Anand.

Student Scholarships & Grants 

Crossing Borders Research Funding and Scholarships 

The Crossing Borders program provides scholarships for: 

  • Outgoing Researchers: graduate level UVic students conducting research and fieldwork in Commonwealth countries (five $5,500 grants)
    Deadline: April 2, 2015 
  • Commonwealth Scholars: graduate students from Commonwealth countries studying at UVic (two $11,250 scholarships)
    Deadline: May 1, 2015 

Student Essay Prize 

To encourage excellence in student research on the Asia-Pacific region, the Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives offers a Student Essay Prize for the best paper written on the Asia-Pacific region each year. One award of $500 is available.

Student Fellowships 

Four CAPI Student Fellowships of $2,500 are available on an annual basis to support student research and study in the Asia-Pacific region (two in the Fall term and two in the Spring term each year). To encourage excellence in research on the Asia-Pacific region, CAPI offers a Student Research Fellowship, and to support the study of languages of the Asia-Pacific region, CAPI offers a Student Language Fellowship
