National Centre for Indigenous Laws & Fraser building renovations
The new National Centre for Indigenous Laws (NCIL) at UVic will be a dynamic place to share Indigenous legal traditions. It will also be home to the Faculty of Law’s JD/JID Program - the first law program in the world to combine the study of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous laws.
Construction timeline:
- August - December 2022: library renovations (CAPI offices) & room 158. The library will remain open.
- October - December 2022: underground utilities construction.
- November 2022 - August 2024:
- Superstructure: February - June 2023
- Exterior complete: February 2024
- Interior & landscaping complete: June 2024
- Occupancy: August 2024
- Summer 2023: Classroom wing and student lounge closed for renovations. There will be no classes in the Fraser building during this time.
