Washington Post Article Featuring Dr. Rachel Cleves' Research

Our own Dr. Rachel Cleves' research appeared in the Washington Post last week! This is significant not only for drawing attention to her book Charity and Sylvia: A Same-Sex Marriage in Early America, but also for connecting her research to the cresting debate over same-sex marriage in the United States. With the U.S. Supreme Court set to hear arguments on same-sex marriage on 28 April, the appearance of this article in Washington D.C.’s most prestigious newspaper is extraordinary! This reminds us, and hopefully reminds others, just how important the study of history is to the decisions societies make.
