Associate or Assistant Professor in History

The Department of History at the University of Victoria invites applications for a tenure-track position in Indigenous History. The appointment, effective July 1, 2019, will be made at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor. Thematic and geographic areas of research are open but we are particularly interested in candidates with a specialization in North American Indigenous history whose research coincides with existing thematic areas of strength in our department.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in history or a related discipline at the time of appointment, or be ABD, show a capacity for outstanding research as evidenced by publications or forthcoming publications in peer-reviewed journals and by grants received. Candidates should also provide evidence of teaching excellence as demonstrated by course evaluation data, testimonials and/or peer reviews.

In accordance with the University's Equity Plan and pursuant to section 42 of the BC Human Rights Code, the selection will be limited to Indigenous peoples.
