The School of Nursing is committed to research, professional activities, knowledge generation, and advancement of nursing practice. Through partnerships among educators, students, practitioners, researchers and policy developers, we promote health and social change.

We are linked with research centres at the University of British Columbia including the Institute for Health Promotion Research, the Human Early Learning Partnership, and the W. Maurice Young Centre for Applied Ethics, Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging.

We have strong research and practice linkages with Island Health, Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, Fraser Health Authority, Interior Health Authority, Northern Health Authority, Provincial Health Authority, and Ministry of Health.

The School of Nursing is accredited by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing and approved by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.

Faculty Opportunities

Faculty participate with colleagues, students, and the public in socially engaging ways and strive to integrate teaching, scholarship, and research at all program levels. The Faculty of HSD provides support for research development through the HSD Research Support Centre as well connections with the Learning and Teaching Support and Innovation office to support its faculty with professional development and teaching enhancement.   • Final Grades due to Director:  April 15, 2024

Qualifications for all candidates:
· Required education: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and Master’s degree (preferably in Nursing or other health related field).
· Active registration and in good standing with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
· Experience teaching in post secondary settings in course credit instruction as primary instructor is an asset.
· Demonstrated ability or capacity to teach in practice and classroom settings (face-to-face and online), including familiarity/experience with online technology-enhanced, experiential, and simulation learning environments is an asset.

Qualified Nurse Practitioner applicants interested in teaching Nurse Practitioner courses will have:
· Required education: baccalaureate degree in Nursing and a Master’s degree in Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (NP) program.
· Active registration and in good standing with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)** as a Nurse Practitioner.
· Demonstrated expertise and experience as a Nurse Practitioner in primary care settings.
· Demonstrated ability to teach in the practice and online classroom settings, and a willingness to teach and/or have experience in teaching in online technology-enhanced and experiential learning management system environments;
(Note: all Nurse Practitioner graduate programming is offered only through online distributed learning and may have several week long intensives (on-site in Victoria or online) scheduled throughout the academic calendar year).

· (for practice courses offered) must be willing to travel to various practice settings for student site visits locally (BSN courses) and provincially (Nurse Practitioner graduate courses) as nurse practitioner placements are situated within various health authorities within British Columbia. Travel is reimbursed according to university policy.
