South Tower Residence Opens

UVic's newest student residence building, "South Tower" located east of the Cadboro Commons Building opened on schedule at the beginning of January 2011. The 106-bed facility is helping to meet the high demand for residence accommodation and is already fully occupied. 

22 suites are earmarked for graduate and mature students. Each suite features an open plan bedroom/dining and study area plus private bathroom and kitchenette. The remaining 84 beds in the building are dormitory-style. 

The South Tower is targeted to achieve gold-level certification in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating Standards' program.

The Project Manager for this residence was Betsy Moyer.
