Rental rates

The University Centre Farquhar Auditorium makes every effort to keep rental rates affordable while ensuring the facility is properly maintained and well-equipped for its users. The Auditorium operates on a cost recovery budget model. This includes university use of the space which is charged back to individual faculties and units.The University maintains the auditorium’s general infrastructure. All other operating expenses (staffing, janitorial, equipment purchases, repairs, maintenance, etc.) are recovered by rental fees and chargebacks.

Rental rates for off-campus users include up to 7.5 hours for a Production Supervisor and all Front of House staff for 4 hours. These costs are included in base rental rates and their value outlined in the rental rate information below. If additional staff and/or staffing hours are required this expense will be added to your final settlement.

Commercial Rental Rates

Commercial rates apply to presenters who do not fall under the non-profit or education categories.

Commercial rates are flat rental fees.  The University Centre Farquhar Auditorium does not charge a versus-percentage-of-ticket-receipts.

Peformance Day Rentals

Main Floor Only: $2900.00 (includes $800.00 in labour)

Main Floor & Balcony: $3400.00 (includes $1176.00 in labour)

Includes a full day of venue access for performance and/or rehearsal time (no hour limit), up to 7.5 hours of Production Supervisor (to a value of $330), and 4 hours for all required Front of House Staff (up to a value of $470.00 main floor and $846.00 for main and balcony)

Non-Performance Day Rentals:

Per Hour(4 Hour minimum) $160.00 (includes $44.00/hr in labour)

Includes Production Supervisor's labour ($44.00 per hour)

Ticketing Charges:

$4.00 Fee per Ticket

  • Fee includes gst
  • Fee should be included in advertised price per ticket
  • Complimentary tickets requested by presenters charged on settlement

3.5% fee for all debit and credit card transactions based on total of sale.

Additional order fee of $2.00 for inperson or telephone sale, or $3.00 online sale paid by purchaser.

Non-Profit Professional Rental Rates

Non-Profit Professional rates apply to local non-profit organizations that pay their artists and supply a copy of their Certificate of Incorporation under the BC Society's Act.

Peformance Day Rentals:

Main Floor Only: $1900.00 (includes $800.00 in labour)

Main Floor & Balcony: $2325.00 (includes $1176.00 in labour)

Includes a full day of venue access for performance and/or rehearsal time (no hour limit), up to 7.5 hours of Production Supervisor (to a value of $330), and 4 hours for all required Front of House Staff (up to a value of $470.00 main floor and $846.00 for main and balcony)

Education Rental Rates

Education rates apply to any registered publicly or privately operated educational organization operating within the geographical perimeters of the Capital Regional District.

Main Floor & Balcony: $1750.00 (includes $1176.00 in labour)

UVic Booking

Auditorium use that is booked and organized by and for a UVic department and is billed through the university's accounting system.

$250.00 Administration Fee per booking plus all Labour costs and consumables (not included).
