Whales use echolocation to hunt

Three University of Victoria researchers have been awarded a total $935,000 in federal funding to study the impact of underwater noise on critically endangered southern resident killer whales and the Chinook salmon they depend on for almost 80 per cent of their diet.

Tech funding from province

UVic will receive $400,000 in start-up funding from the Province to expand its undergraduate computer science and engineering degree programs–including electrical, computer, software, civil, mechanical and biomedical. This is expected to result in 125 additional tech graduates per year by 2023.
