In light of the global progression of the COVID-19 virus and the impacts on travel and mobility, all UVic undergraduate students planning to travel home may now do so. This includes both international and domestic students.
To achieve the above goals, the Provost, in consultation with the Emergency Operations Centre, is recommending, effective Monday, March 16, transitioning from face-to-face to alternative modes of instruction and evaluation for the remainder of this term.

The university community is saddened to hear that a female first-year student from the University of Victoria is among the victims of the Tehran air crash Wednesday.
As many of you are aware, the union representing support staff members in Saanich school district (CUPE) has served strike notice to the school district. The union has indicated that it intends to begin a full strike beginning Monday, Oct 28th @ 5:45am.
A community gathering for reflection and support will be held at the University of Victoria on Tuesday, Sept. 17 to provide students, faculty and staff with a space to unite and reflect in the wake of the recent bus accident in which two students died and several were injured.
As you return to campus this morning, I know many of you share my sense of sorrow following the devastating accident Friday night in which two UVic students were killed and several others were injured. The loss of members of our campus community in any circumstances is distressing. These bright young people were united in their desire to experience the research and learning possibilities on Vancouver Island’s west coast. My heartfelt condolences go out to them and their loved ones.
Throughout the weekend, university staff worked closely with the students involved with Friday’s tragic bus crash to get them the immediate and ongoing supports that they may need.
University counsellors, outreach and support staff, as well as senior administrators, met with students and their families throughout Saturday afternoon to provide help and support for their recovery from the tragic bus crash in which two students lost their lives.
