Experts on BC terror plot

The following University of Victoria faculty members are available to comment following the RCMP news conference today about the thwarted domestic terrorism plot timed for Canada Day:

Scott Watson (Political Science) is an expert in international security, international relations theory and the social construction of security/insecurity. He can address the threat of terrorism in today's context from a global and national perspective. (Watson is available to media from 1 pm onward at 250-472-4715 or sdwatson@uvic.ca)

Andrew Rippin (History) is a specialist on Muslim religious thought and can provide comment on misconceptions of Islam in contrast to the realities and perceptions of Islamic fundamentalism and jihadism. (Rippin is not available until tomorrow and will be overseas, but can be contacted by email to set up an interview: arippin@uvic.ca)
