Young Scientists Show Off Science Projects

In a battle of the genders, who is more polite? Are claims about antibacterial hand gel more fiction than fact? Why is texting so much fun? Everyone is invited to the University of Victoria on Sunday and Monday for all sorts of scientific studies being shown off by young Einsteins from grades 4 through 12 at the 51st Regional Science Fair.
Science enthusiasts from across Vancouver Island converge every spring on the UVic campus in the lead-up to a nationwide science fair. Over 150 projects will be unveiled on April 15 and 16 following weeks of experimentation and a first round of applause at school science fairs. The volunteer group, Society for the Advancement of Young Scientists (SAYS), organizes the annual Vancouver Island Regional Science Fair (VIRSF) led by VIRSF chairperson Dr. Roswitha Marx of UVic’s Department of Biology with assistance from SAYS colleagues and members of the UVic community.
The annual event is open to the public (donations are appreciated). Public viewing is available at the following times. More info: http://web.uvic.ca/~virsf.
