Dr. Mary Ellen Purkis re-appointed

Dr. Mary Ellen Purkis has been reappointed dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Development for a term of five years, commencing July 1, 2010. In recommending her reappointment, the review committee described her leadership as “outstanding,” and praised her “strong and effective advocacy for all the schools and programs in the faculty, her vision and success in generating new programs and resources… and her consultative and respectful nature, energy and enthusiasm.” Purkis holds an RN and BN from the University of Calgary, and an MSc in Nursing Education and a PhD in Nursing from the University of Edinburgh.
