Science Fair Sets Scene For Future Geniuses

What type of plastic bag breaks down fastest? Are probiotic market claims truly accurate? Does your eye colour affect your peripheral vision? This weekend, approximately 150 future scientists from Grades 4 to 12 across Vancouver Island will offer up all sorts of scientific surprises at the 2009 Vancouver Island Regional Science Fair at the University of Victoria. This year’s eager science enthusiasts have already earned a first round of applause at their local school science fairs and, on Monday, several of the 119 projects will be selected for the 2009 Canada-Wide Science Fair in Winnipeg, May 9 to 17.
This annual event is open to the public and organized by the non-profit volunteer Society for the Advancement of Young Scientists (SAYS); donations are appreciated. Visit http://web.uvic.ca/~virsf/ for more information.
