UVic Experts Speak on the Asian Economic Crisis

The UVic Department of Pacific and Asian Studies and Camosun College's Pacific Rim Studies program present a series of free public lectures exploring the Asian economic crisis.

¥ On Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in UVic's Begbie 157, Garrett Lambert (UVic Faculty of Business, former Canadian High Commissioner in Hong Kong) will speak on "What Happened to the Asian Economic Miracle?"

¥ On Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m. in Camosun's Fisher 100 (Lansdowne campus), Dr. Terry McGee (Director of UBC's Institute of Asian Research and Department of Geography) will speak on "Fiscal Crisis and Social Stability: The Case of Indonesia."

¥ On March 3 at 1:00 p.m. in Camosun's Young 325 (Lansdowne campus), Dr. Ralph Huenemann (UVic Faculty of Business and Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives) will speak on "Greater China in the Asian Economic Turmoil."

¥ On March 5 at 1:00 p.m. in Camosun's Young 325 (Lansdowne campus), Dr. John Price (UVic Department of History) will speak on "The Asian Financial Crisis and Japan."

¥ And, at a time and place yet to be announced, Cesar Villaneuva (Director of Community Development and Outreach Program, University of St. La Salle, The Philippines) will speak on "Economic Meltdown in The Philippines."
