Building Reconciliation Forum

This year’s theme is Ts’its’u’ watul tseep, meaning to help one another. Free public events include an Indigenous artisans market on Nov. 16 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in First Peoples House.

Feedback invited on new student housing

Proposed designs for UVic's newest buildings will be on display at campus and community open houses, Nov. 21 and 22. Following a year of consultations, the designs for the two student housing and dining buildings will be open for comment before the project moves to the municipal approval stage.

Exploring ways of knowing

As a Métis woman, Brigitte Benning grew up in a tight-knit family with a strong maternal role model who taught her how to advocate for the rights and recognition of Indigenous people. Sociology caught her attention with its diversity of issues on gender, mental health, the environment, Indigenous methodologies, feminist studies and religion.

Finding self, reclaiming space

Corrina Sparrow wanted more out of her post-secondary education experience. While she was excited for the learning, she yearned for something she believed post-secondary education could help her develop: a historic understanding and a stronger sense of Indigenous identity. She found what she was looking for largely through UVic's School of Social Work.

2018 UVic United Way campaign

On Sept. 28, the 2018 UVic United Way campaign officially kicked off at a special Vikes Nation event in the CARSA Performance Gym. Fans cheered on the Vikes while learning more about United Way.
