2010 Science Fair at UVic

What happens when jello meets a kiwi? What kind of toy is best for your cat? And have you ever seen a homemade hovercraft? Come to the University of Victoria this weekend for some scientific surprises and fascinating answers at the Vancouver Island Regional Science Fair (VIRSF).
Approximately 120 junior scientists from grades four to 12 are ready to unveil the results of weeks of experimentation, having come fresh from a first round of applause at their local school science fairs. This weekend’s event is one of 13 science fairs held in BC every year. On Monday, six VIRSF projects will qualify to compete at the national 2010 science fair in Peterborough, ON, from May 15 to 23.
The annual event is open to the public (donations are appreciated), and is organized by the non-profit volunteer Society for the Advancement of Young Scientists to foster scientific curiosity among young people.
For more information about the event at UVic, visit http://web.uvic.ca/~virsf/.
