On September 8th, book loans for UVic faculty, staff and graduate students returned to term loan due dates. UVic undergraduate, alumni, and community borrowers will return to 28-day loan due dates.

Items currently on your account that are due on September 30th will need to be returned to the library, or renewed by you through your My Library Account.

For items that have already been returned, thank you! We are currently working through the backlog of returned items to remove them from your account. Rest assured that you will not incur fines on these returned items if they are still appearing on your account.

If you are unable to renew items via My Library Account, please send an email to and we will manage this for you. Please note that it may take some time for us to work through all the requests.

Fines will continue to be suspended until December 31, 2020. Please contact the Loan Desk ( | 250-721-8230) with any questions.

Help! My item didn't renew!

  • The item may already be overdue or is due today. Once an item is overdue, it is not possible to renew items online. Phone or email us to help you right away.
  • You may have reached our renewal limit. Most items at the McPherson Library can be renewed five times. At the Curriculum Library, most items can be renewed four times.
  • The item may not be renewable. Most film/video items, most reserve items, and items with outstanding recalls are not renewable.
  • Your library card may have expired or will expire by the item due date. Most library privileges must be renewed annually in September.
  • I'm still not sure why I can't renew. If none of these reasons apply, please contact us for help.
