The Music & Media reserve collection provides speedy access to course-related video materials in high demand.

To ensure maximum viewing enjoyment for all, video reserves are for use exclusively in our modern and comfortable screening rooms.

You can search online for your course reserve list, and e-mail lists for future reference. Need help?

Information for Faculty

  • Use our online reserve request form to submit requests for materials you need placed on reserve to support your teaching.
  • A list updated daily of all materials on reserve for each faculty member is available. This list may be printed for your future course reserve needs.

Materials Placed on Reserve

  • Videos and DVDs from the Media collection.
  • New videos and DVDs. Please allow 6-8 weeks when requesting new materials to be ordered for your reserve course. Please contact Bill Blair, Music & Media Librarian for new materials requests. The UVic Libraries provide a cost share arrangement with departments and may share up to 50% of the cost of a video or DVD purchase.
  • Commercially available personal copies supplied by the department or instructor. Personal video copies will be placed in Library VHS or DVD cases. While we attempt to ensure the security of personal copiesl, we are not responsible for loss or damage.
  • Media materials, whether McPherson Library materials or personal copies, will only be placed on reserve if they have public performance rights, and comply with UVic's copyright and the use of video materials policy. Video Bookings staff will ensure rights are verified and approved.
  • The number of items on reserve for any course may be reviewed and, after consultation with the instructor, limited.
  • To accommodate all requests and in consideration of library space, processing costs, and overall user needs, only required materials may be placed on reserve.
