Curriculum Library

Curriculum Library has merged with Mearns Centre for Learning / McPherson Library - Update May 18, 2018

UVic Libraries has merged the Curriculum Library into the Mearns Centre for Learning - McPherson Library.  As of May 18, 2018, Curriculum Collection materials (books, kits) can be found on the 2nd floor of McPherson Library.  Curriculum Collection CDs and DVDs can be found on the main floor in Music & Media.

This merger significantly enhances access to print education resources for students and faculty and reduce the duplication of resources and services. Mearns Centre for Learning - McPherson Library, is open nearly twice the number of hours each week as the Curriculum Library was able to be open, and is where the majority of resources for Faculty of Education students and faculty already reside. The collection relocation and merger has also enabled the reassignment of Curriculum Library staff to areas of growth and demand across the university library system.

The existing Dewey classification system for curriculum resources has been maintained in the new location.  Some teaching resources (such as the puppets, curriculum kits, and story circle) will remain in the Faculty for use by students and instructors.

A joint UVic Libraries and Faculty of Education working group was established to help address this operational change and to ensure a thoughtful and smooth transition.  The Curriculum Library was closed on April 30, 2018, and the merger is now completed.
