Sardul S. Gill Graduate School programs a leader in diversity on QS World University Rankings

QS Global MBA and Masters in Management rankings 2018 have revealed the Sardul S. Gill Graduate School at the University of Victoria’s Gustavson School of Business shines when it comes to diversity. The Master of Global Business (MGB) program scored 75 on the assessment scale; a full 20% higher than the global average, and, even more impressively, 50% higher when compared to Canadian schools alone. The Whistler Chamber of Commerce and Gustavson School of Business’ “Whistler Experience” named a finalist for World Chamber Award

The “Whistler Experience” community-wide customer service training program was a finalist for a World Chamber Award for Best Education and Training project at the International Chamber of Commerce Congress held in Sydney Australia on September 21, 2017. Aboriginal Canadian Entrepreneurs Program Honoured as Best in the World

The Northwest Aboriginal Canadian Entrepreneurs (NW-ACE) program, which provides business skills training in northern BC Indigenous communities, took home the top prize at the Gold Global Best Awards ceremony in Oslo, Norway last month in recognition of the significant impact NW-ACE is having on the communities in which they operate.

NW-ACE Program Wins Alan Blizzard 2016 Award

The Northwest Aboriginal Canadian Entrepreneurs (NW-ACE) Program, a partnership between the Tribal Resources Investment Corporation (TRICORP), regional and provincial governments and the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business, has been honoured with the 2016 Alan Blizzard Award from the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE). Encouraging collaboration in teaching, the Alan Blizzard Award is a national award given out once every two years to a project that reflects significant collaboration in student learning or teaching. Read more

NW-ACE: Program wins ICAB Award

NW-ACE, a collaboration between Gustavson, TRICORP, Service Canada, BG Group and Spectra Energy, was honored with the 2014 Industry Council for Aboriginal Business (ICAB) Partnership and Collaboration Visionary Award.

ICAB was founded to facilitate dialogue and relationship-building between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal businesses and communities throughout British Columbia. The Aboriginal Business Recognition Awards were established to celebrate and recognize the successes of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal corporations and individuals who have worked together to create economic opportunities for each other. Brenda Ireland, ICAB’s CEO, says that this “innovative community-based program is indeed worthy of acknowledgment.” Read more

THE rankings: UVic Among World's Best in Annual Ranking


UVic placed in the Top 200 Universities in the World for the fourth time since the Times Higher Education (THE) world university rankings started publishing in 2010.  In the 2014 THE rankings, UVic ranked 173 in the world and in the top 7 universities in Canada.  This continues the number of great THE rankings that UVic has received in recent years.  For 2012 and 2013, UVic was ranked the #1 university in Canada by THE in their 100 under 50 universities ranking (for 2014, the University of Victoria no longer is eligible for this category because it was established 51 years ago).  Read more

UVic is listed as one of Canada's top 5 universities

Leiden University’s Centre for Science and Technology Studies has released its latest annual rankings. The Leiden rankings measure the scientific performance of 750 universities worldwide, including each institution’s scientific impact and involvement in scientific collaboration. This year, 28 Canadian universities appear on the list. Only the University of Toronto cracked the top 100, appearing in 87th place. The University of British Columbia (109) and McGill University (119) also made strong showings, while the University of Victoria was Canada’s top-ranked university without a medical school, at 183rd. The University of Ottawa (185) rounds out Canada’s top 5. Read more

UVic received grant worth $445, 000 from the European Union (EU)


University of Victoria has received a grant worth $445 000 from the European Union (EU). The funding will allow UVic to be home to the only European Union Centre of Excellence (EUCE) in B.C., and only the third of its kind in Canada. Several disciplines can look forward to offerings of lectures and workshops over the next three years all with an EU focus. Read more
